Very many companies and businesses over the internet chose PayPal as one of their means of online money transfer because of their great services; therefore if you venture into online businesses, you will at some point need a PayPal account.
In this article, you will learn how to open a PayPal account in Nigeria. Since it is the world’s number one online platform for money transfer, it has the trust of millions of persons in the world when it comes to sending and receiving money over the internet
There are other online money transfer platforms such as Payoneer, Western Union 2Checkout, etc. but we will be focusing our attention on opening a functioning PayPal account in Nigeria.
Here is what you will need:
· A valid Email address
· A isa or MasterCard (Debit or Credit card). This is very much needed while verifying your account.
How To Create a PayPal Account
· Go to their Sign Up page here
· Fill the signup form (which will request for your name, Email address and password. You should choose a password you can remember easily)
· Click on “Next” below the page
The next page will be another form
· Input your names, date of birth, address, and phone number. ( the details used to create the PayPal account MUST match with the details used in opening the bank account of which card you’ll be using to verify the PayPal account). Then Agree and continue.
Another page will open where you should insert your card details
· Insert your card number, expiry date, and card CVC (the 3 digits code behind your card).
If the card is accepted, you will receive an email which you must verify via the link contained in the Email.
You should have some money in the bank account which they’ll deduct and refund back to you. This is to be sure the transaction is working.

NB: As at the time of this publication, due to the limited trust PayPal has for Nigeria as a result of the label of internet fraud, you cannot receive payments from a Nigerian PayPal account, but there’s an alternative route you should try out.
How To Receive Payments Via PayPal From Nigeria
There are some registrations you can do online with another country that could give you access to make transactions via PayPal and some of the countries are the United States of America, Lesotho, or South Africa.
Here are the links for each country:
· Sign Up for the business option (Fill in your business and personal details)
Chose “Individual Business” for the business details
Input your means of identification (International Passport Number of NIN)
NB: You will need to have someone in that country of which to domicile your account; but in case you don’t have, simply visit the country’s yellow pages to get yourself pseudo credentials which you will be using alongside in your personal details.
PayPal limitations on your Card will be taken away when you verify in your Email.
Test your account by requesting a transfer from freelancers.

At this point, you should be free to make and receive payment via PayPal.
